Glow Therapy: Candid Conversations With A Skin Specialist

So I’m having an event in NYC! Think of it as a TEDtalk for all things beauty and wellness related. I’ll be breaking down the functions of the skin, how you can get the most out of your seasonal skin care routines & much more. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask me any questions you might have about beauty (even professional questions). The best part is you will receive a free skin consultation from me as well! I hope to see all your beautiful faces there ❤ I’m so excited to meet you!

Body Positive Bullshit

This might start some shit. But oh well…

We used to be a culture that was all about size. You had to be a certain clothing size (2-6) to be considered “conventionally beautiful” or “classically beautiful”. Recently, I came across a story about some new plus sized model that was being featured on some magazine that I’ve never read (and probably won’t ever read). The point was that she was being accepted by mainstream outlets as a beautiful full figured woman. Suddenly we have women of all sizes being seen as beautiful which is lovely, however, they must be the proper shape. We have transitioned into a new period of beauty that is all about how snatched your waist is. If the ratio between your tits, tummy, and ass isn’t just right, you are the weakest link, no matter if you’re a size 2 or a 14.

Any woman that does not fit into the two categories is seen as being “body positive” which is really just like a consolation prize. I had someone tell me that it was a brave thing to do to accept your body. No no no no no. It is a human thing to do to accept your body. It is a brave thing to imagine your ideal self and put in the work to make that a reality. You don’t get points for loving yourself. There’s no reason for you not to love yourself.
