Coming Soon: Mask Mondays!

You know what pisses me off? Seeing tutorials and skin care vids of women with beat faces sparingly applying mask products to their face. As if they are completely unaware that the skin around their brows, mouth and eyes also needs to be tended to. After providing these women with one too many views, I have decided that I will begin a weekly Periscope broadcast featuring myself and some of my fav masks and other products. Those tuning in will be able to ask me health, beauty and wellness questions. So you’ve got a week to download the app and follow. Can’t wait to see you there!

Not into livestreams and such? No problem! I’ll bring the best questions, suggestions and ideas here for your consumption.

Body Positive Bullshit

This might start some shit. But oh well…

We used to be a culture that was all about size. You had to be a certain clothing size (2-6) to be considered “conventionally beautiful” or “classically beautiful”. Recently, I came across a story about some new plus sized model that was being featured on some magazine that I’ve never read (and probably won’t ever read). The point was that she was being accepted by mainstream outlets as a beautiful full figured woman. Suddenly we have women of all sizes being seen as beautiful which is lovely, however, they must be the proper shape. We have transitioned into a new period of beauty that is all about how snatched your waist is. If the ratio between your tits, tummy, and ass isn’t just right, you are the weakest link, no matter if you’re a size 2 or a 14.

Any woman that does not fit into the two categories is seen as being “body positive” which is really just like a consolation prize. I had someone tell me that it was a brave thing to do to accept your body. No no no no no. It is a human thing to do to accept your body. It is a brave thing to imagine your ideal self and put in the work to make that a reality. You don’t get points for loving yourself. There’s no reason for you not to love yourself.

Major VAGINA Key Alert

In a typical work day, I see at least 10-15 vaginas. No, I’m not a peeping Tom or a gynecologist. I’m an esthetician. Part of my job is remove hair from the body with wax. This also means I deal with a lot of insecurities and concerns from my clients about things like the look, smell, or presentation of their vaginas. Many of the women (sometimes born male) that lay on my table have just been stumbling through life not knowing how to care for their vaginas. Most of them do not even know how it works. Here’s a few MAJOR things you should be doing to keep it cool, calm, and collected down there.

  1. Let its do its thing: this means as little picking & primping as possible. And absolutely NO DOUCHING. None of those flowery ass scented soaps because your vagina is not supposed to smell like a Victoria’s Secret perfume section. Its supposed to smell like you. Just warm water will do when it comes to cleaning it.
  2. Treat it like you treat your face: I say this in regards to skin care. Moisturize your vagina daily. Let it breathe. Exfoliate the bikini area once a week. Be sure that whatever products you’re using are non comedogenic (dont clog your pores). That means NO OILS WHATSOEVER!!!! My go to products for vaginal skin care are European Wax Center’s Ingrown Hair Serum as well as their Body Exfoliate.
  3. The garden effect: I call this last one the garden effect because I have no idea what else to call it. Take care of your vagina by creating conditions by which it can thrive (as you would a garden). Drink a lot of water. Eat foods that help cleanse it. Give it light/fresh air. As trendy as it seems to wear PINK and Calvin Klein’s to bed, your vagina will not thank you for it.

I hope these tips help your box shine bright like a diamond ❤ Chow
